Did you know Australia has the third highest number of international students in the world behind only the United Kingdom and the United States despite having a population of only 23 million? This isn’t surprising when you consider Australia has seven of the top 100 universities in the world! In fact, with over 22,000 courses across 1,100 institutions, Australia sits above Germany, the Netherlands and Japan, ranking eighth in the Universitas 2012 U21 Ranking of National Higher Education Systems.
It is not surprising then that Australia is becoming an increasingly popular destination for Mongolian students. The number of Mongolian students has increased significantly every year. More than 1,800 Mongolian students enrolled in 2016, up 45%, joining a total of more than 6,000 Mongolians who have graduated from Australia since 1993.
But it is not only the large range of courses from highly ranked Universities that attracts Mongolian’s to study in Australia:
- Australia has 5 of the 30 best cities in the World for students to live (topuniversities.com)
- Australia is ranked the fourth happiest country in the world (prosperity.com/ranking.aspx)
- A quality education does not come at a high cost relative to many international competitors, including the United States.
- Cost of living is not as high as many other destinations – recent data from 2016 Economist Cost of Living Survey indicates Australian cities are cheaper than many others in the world.
Australia will also assist after graduation through providing global alumni networks through which Mongolians can connect with more than 2,500,000 fellow alumni worldwide.
