Citizenship for children of Australian citizens born in Mongolia or elsewhere overseas

Children born of Australian citizens outside Australia, including in Mongolia, must acquire Australian citizenship before applying for a passport. This process is not a function of the Australian Embassy, Ulaanbaatar. For further information, please contact the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP), at the Australian Embassy in Beijing. 

If you live in Mongolia , you should apply at the Australian Visa Application Centre (AVAC) in Ulaanbaatar.  An AVAC Service Fee applies. Your application will be processed at the Beijing Visa Office.
